{"id":754,"date":"2012-10-08T14:01:41","date_gmt":"2012-10-08T14:01:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.microsofttraining.net\/b\/wordtraining\/?p=147"},"modified":"2023-12-30T23:15:14","modified_gmt":"2023-12-30T23:15:14","slug":"how-can-i-recover-an-unsaved-file-in-word-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/how-can-i-recover-an-unsaved-file-in-word-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"How can I recover an unsaved file in Word 2010?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I like to draft Word documents and I tend to have a few on the go at any one time.<\/p>\n<p>Now this kind of multi-tasking is a bit of a risk, as I don&#8217;t always remember to save the document. \u00a0I often close a file and then have the forehead slapping moment (mine, not someone else&#8217;s) &#8211; but Word 2010 knows how to work with people like me&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>In backstage view I can select the &#8220;Recover unsaved files&#8221; option. \u00a0Phew. \u00a0From here I can recover my most recently used files.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_148\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-148\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/recover-unsaved-documents-word-2010.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-148\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/recover-unsaved-documents-word-2010-300x165.png\" alt=\"recover-unsaved-documents-word-2010\" width=\"300\" height=\"165\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-148\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At the bottom of the screen is the option to recover unsaved files&#8230;phew.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I can also set up an option to pre-empt my multi-tasking ways&#8230;.and protect my forehead from further hits&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Go to File tab, select, then Options, and select the Save option.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_149\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-149\" style=\"width: 172px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/Word-options-for-saving-Word-2010.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-149\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/Word-options-for-saving-Word-2010-172x300.png\" alt=\"Word options for saving Word 2010\" width=\"172\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-149\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Select the Save option to set up default settings to stop those &#8220;argh, I forgot to save it&#8221; options<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Under the &#8220;Save Autorecover&#8230;&#8221; box there is a tick box \u00a0&#8220;keep the last autosaved version if I close without saving&#8221;. Tick the box to enable the feature.
