Contact us on 02079873777 or info@stl-training.co.uk if you need support with the below.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that if you are attending a training on <strong>Power BI<\/strong> or <strong>MS Project applications<\/strong> you will need to read and follow the extra instructions at the end of this page. These extra checks and setup steps are essential for the Training<\/p>\n<h2><strong>1. Check your setup<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4>Must have:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Laptop or Desktop Computer <\/b><em>(every delegate needs a dedicated device<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Webcam <\/strong><em>(interactive learning works when you can see everyone)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Reliable internet connection<\/strong> <em>(try using a network cable plugged into your router to improve the connection)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Computer Audio <\/strong><em>(laptop speakers are the default option, using a headset prevents feedback from others if they are nearby. Sharing audio in a meeting room doesn&#8217;t work )<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Second computer screen<\/strong> <em>(essential for technical\/apps training and optional for professional development\/management training)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A second computer screen is <strong>not essential for professional development\/ Management training courses<\/strong> as the learning happens on the primary screen<\/p>\n<p>A second computer screen is <strong>essential for apps training courses<\/strong> like Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI, and essential when attending higher levels of these Apps.\u00a0 The learning happens on your primary screen and you interact with the app on your secondary screen at the same time. N.B. If you have a large single screen this is an exception if you use the &#8220;window productivity shortcuts&#8221; below.<\/p>\n<p>If your typical IT setup doesn&#8217;t have 2 screens, please try one (or more!) of the following tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Use an additional monitor or your TV as a second screen<\/strong> by connecting it to your computer using a HDMI cable.<em> (to setup 2 screens just see the video below)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Use a large single screen with these &#8220;window productivity shortcuts&#8221;<\/strong> &#8211; By holding down the &#8220;Alt&#8221; key and the &#8220;Tab&#8221; key you can easily jump between your application and main Microsoft Teams session screens. You can also split your screen in two by using the &#8220;Windows&#8221; key and the left\/right cursor keys to tile two windows side by side on your one screen<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use your tablet\/second laptop as a companion device<\/strong> to follow\/interact with the online training session. You can continue to use your computer to practice and follow the trainer&#8217;s instructions for the application you are learning. <em>(see below for full instructions on adding your companion device to your online meeting session)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are still unsure of any of the above then let your IT Team know so they can assist and inform us ASAP so we can support.<\/p>\n<p>Please avoid using a small laptop screen alone to work on the application and then trying to follow the Trainer&#8217;s screen share by implementing at least ONE of our recommended tips above. Check it has enough memory as this is a resource intensive course (Recommended 8GB RAM and i5 Intel Processor or equivalent)<\/li>\n<li>Set up your IT so there are 2 screens. This is very important because Power BI is a complex program, so you need 2 screens to see the tools properly and follow the training. You may have 2 screens already, which is great! If not, try connecting a TV screen to your computer using a HDMI cable. Alternatively, you can use both your work laptop to run Power BI and a second personal laptop to log into Teams and follow the trainer\u2019s screen. If you have any question please contact your IT Team immediately and let us know before the Training session<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gUd6F0uKEcg&amp;t=62s&amp;ab_channel=STL\">Watch our video explaining two-screen set up here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>Setup for MS Project courses<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It is essential that your have Project Desktop installed correctly on your computer for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/microsoft\/ms-project-introduction-courses.php\">Introduction<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/microsoft\/ms-project-intermediate-courses.php\">Intermediate<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/microsoft\/ms-project-advanced-courses.php\">Advanced<\/a> course follow these steps to check your setup:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the Windows search box on the left side of the taskbar<\/li>\n<li>Search \u2018Project\u2019<\/li>\n<li>If Project is installed on your computer, it will appear as an option<\/li>\n<li>Select the Project app (don\u2019t worry if it doesn\u2019t say 2016 or 2019)<\/li>\n<li>This will open the Project window, and you are all good to go! <strong>Please let us know if you don\u2019t have Project installed.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5319\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/MS-Project-2-908x1024.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/MS-Project-2-908x1024.png 908w, https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/MS-Project-2-266x300.png 266w, https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/MS-Project-2-768x867.png 768w, https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/MS-Project-2.png 990w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you are attending <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/syl\/399\/introduction-microsoft-project-online.html\">Project Online Training<\/a> please make sure you have logged to <a href=\"https:\/\/project.microsoft.com\/stl-training.co.uk\/en-GB\">Project Online<\/a> and tested your access (Please note that Project for the Web is a simpler tool and is different to Project Online, check with your IT Department which version you have if you are not sure <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/microsoft-365\/project\/compare-microsoft-project-management-software\">Compare Microsoft Project options<\/a>)<\/p>\n<h2>Add your Tablet\/iPad as a companion device to a online meeting<\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve joined a meeting on your laptop, you have the option to join it<br \/>\non your tablet\/iPad\/other device at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>While you&#8217;re in a meeting on one device, open the Teams<br \/>\nmeeting on the second one. (Just follow the steps in &#8220;2. Test MS Teams&#8221; above)<\/p>\n<p>Once you have opened the meeting, tap\u202f<strong>Add this device<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6344\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/add_this_device-142x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"142\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/add_this_device-142x300.png 142w, https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/add_this_device.png 244w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 142px) 100vw, 142px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To prevent an echo effect, ensure that the camera, microphone, and<br \/>\noutgoing audio are only turned on <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">on one device<\/span><\/strong>. Teams should<br \/>\nautomatically turn off the speaker, camera, and mic on the second<br \/>\ndevice before it enters the meeting, however, you can also do this<br \/>\nmanually.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6345\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/teams_set_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"251\" height=\"88\" \/><\/p>\n<p>1. To turn on your speaker, just tap <strong>Speaker<\/strong> at the bottom of<br \/>\nyour screen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/teams_set_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"249\" height=\"85\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. To turn on your camera or mic, tap <strong>Camera<\/strong> or <strong>Mic<\/strong> at the<br \/>\nbottom of your screen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6348\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/teams_set_3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"89\" \/><\/p>\n<p>3.
