Does\u00a0a person\u2019s\u00a0ability to\u00a0solve\u00a0problems\u00a0directly relate to\u00a0advancement?\u00a0Does the capacity to find solutions enable promotion? If\u00a0so, how many correct solutions does one need to acquire?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It has been shown that consistent problem solvers progress in their career faster than those who select the wrong option. It\u2019s\u00a0the secret sauce<\/a>\u00a0we can use\u00a0to improve our credentials.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mathematician George\u00a0Polya\u00a0put forward a thesis in 1945 that there are\u00a0four principles<\/b>\u00a0in being able to problem solve.\u00a0Try using\u00a0these next time\u00a0you come across a meaty problem at work and see where success takes you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A dramatic\u00a0example\u00a0of this is when\u00a0the medical profession\u00a0attributed Yellow Fever\u00a0epidemics\u00a0to a contagious,\u00a0airborne disease passed from person to person,\u00a0even though they had\u00a0no<\/b>\u00a0evidence<\/b>.\u00a0Because of this\u00a0incorrect\u00a0frame of reference,\u00a0they\u00a0failed to accept\u00a0other opinions.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t until\u00a027th<\/span>\u00a0August\u00a01900,\u00a0when US Army physician James Carroll\u00a0allowed\u00a0an infected mosquito to feed on him, that his\u00a0subsequent illness helped his colleague Walter Reed discover effective ways to combat the true\u00a0cause of the\u00a0problem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
