Whilst\u00a0filtering and deleting records to make a list of unique items is an effective solution, there is an even easier way.<br \/>\nSimply follow these steps to remove duplicates in Excel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong> Copy the column of data containing the repeated or duplicate items to a blank column.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong> Highlight\u00a0the copied column\u00a0of data and\u00a0select <strong>Data,<\/strong> <strong>Remove Duplicates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/RemoveDuplicates.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2252\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/RemoveDuplicates-300x254.jpg\" alt=\"RemoveDuplicates\" width=\"300\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong> From dialog box\u00a0remove the tick\u00a0next to\u00a0&#8216;My\u00a0data has headers&#8217; if you did not include\u00a0a header at the top of your data.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2276\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2276\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/RemoveDuplicatesDialog2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2276 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/RemoveDuplicatesDialog2-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"RemoveDuplicatesDialog\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2276\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Remove Duplicates in Excel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4<\/strong> Press <strong>OK<\/strong> and all the duplicates will be removed.<\/p>\n<p>A message\u00a0displays at the end telling you\u00a0how many duplicates\u00a0have been removed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/RemoveDuplicatesResult2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2256\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/RemoveDuplicatesResult2-300x184.jpg\" alt=\"RemoveDuplicatesResult2\" width=\"300\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Remove duplicates\u00a0in Excel\u00a0for more than<\/strong><strong> one column<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0Remove Duplicates in Excel feature also allows duplicates to be found in a combination of columns.<\/p>\n<p>For example suppose from the data below\u00a0you want to remove\u00a0items\u00a0where the Date and Country are the\u00a0same value.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/RemoveDuplidcatesMultiCols21.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2259\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/RemoveDuplidcatesMultiCols21-300x216.jpg\" alt=\"RemoveDuplidcatesMultiCols2\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This time the data contains headers for clarity.<br \/>\nWith both\u00a0columns ticked duplicates are only removed if rows have the same Date and the same Country.
