Used to visually and quickly filter data within a Pivot Table.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Pivot Table feature makes it extremely easy to manipulate the layout of data lists in Excel, we have found most attendees of our <strong>Excel 2010 training Courses<\/strong> are excited by the power of the new Slicer tool.<\/p>\n<p>Create a standard Pivot Table and from the Insert Ribbon click the Slicer tool in the Filter Section.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/exceltraining\/files\/2011\/08\/London-Excel-Training-Pivot-Table.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-133\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/exceltraining\/files\/2011\/08\/London-Excel-Training-Pivot-Table.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"972\" height=\"361\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This will display the Insert Slicers Dialog.\u00a0From the Insert Slicers dialog tick the fields you would like to filter on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/exceltraining\/files\/2011\/08\/London-Excel-Training-Slicer-Dialog1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-136\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/exceltraining\/files\/2011\/08\/London-Excel-Training-Slicer-Dialog1.jpg\" alt=\"Training Excel 2010 - Slicer Dialog\" width=\"203\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This will display a box for each field selected.\u00a0These can be moved and resized to suit available space on the sheet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/exceltraining\/files\/2011\/08\/London-Excel-Training-Insert-Boxes.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-135\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/exceltraining\/files\/2011\/08\/London-Excel-Training-Insert-Boxes.jpg\" alt=\"Excel Training in London - Excel Slicer Boxes\" width=\"472\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To filter data, click on the relevant data. In our example <em>below<\/em> we have chosen the Bristol and London Store with Departments of Sales and Payroll. (You can select multiple items by holding the Control key while clicking).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/exceltraining\/files\/2011\/08\/London-Excel-Training-Result-2010-Excel.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-137\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/exceltraining\/files\/2011\/08\/London-Excel-Training-Result-2010-Excel.jpg\" alt=\"Microsoft Excel Training Courses - Slicer and Pivot table filer\" width=\"459\" height=\"343\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The results are immediate, and the slicer dialogs visually show what is currently filtered.<\/p>\n<p>To clear the filters, click the small funnel icon in the top right of the Slicer boxes.<\/p>\n<p><em>NOTE<\/em>: This Slicer feature is disabled if you have workbooks from earlier Excel versions running in compatibility mode.
