{"id":122,"date":"2012-10-08T12:01:04","date_gmt":"2012-10-08T12:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.microsofttraining.net\/b\/wordtraining\/?p=122"},"modified":"2023-12-30T23:15:14","modified_gmt":"2023-12-30T23:15:14","slug":"what-is-the-difference-between-smartart-and-clipart-in-word-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/what-is-the-difference-between-smartart-and-clipart-in-word-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the difference between SmartArt and ClipArt in Word 2010?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This question is not quite eligible for to be a QI question but still worth knowing.<\/p>\n<p>A document can look a bit bland without diagrams, and if you can&#8217;t get your point across quickly and easily, it can affect a business decision, project plan or sales analysis.<\/p>\n<p>A graphic or diagram can be much easier for a reader to digest complex data compared to several paragraphs of text.<\/p>\n<p><em>Clip<\/em> <em>Art\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\nClip Art can be anything from a piece of stock photography, drawings or movie.<br \/>\nThese can be used to illustrate a point or concept in your documents.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_125\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-125\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/clipart-menu-word-2010.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-125\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/clipart-menu-word-2010-300x162.png\" alt=\"clipart menu word 2010\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-125\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">When I click on the Clip Art button, I get a menu of images. I can search for an image to match my term.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>SmartArt<br \/>\n<\/em>These graphics are more dynamic. \u00a0They can be uses to illustrate a process model, \u00a0organisational charts or even Venn diagrams.<\/p>\n<p>Word 2010 gives a complete menu to choose from. \u00a0I love this tool, as it saves me trying to design models or diagrams and fretting with margins. \u00a0I can focus on adding the content to the image, and get my message across in my Word document.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_126\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-126\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/SmartArt-options-Word-2010.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-126\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/SmartArt-options-Word-2010-300x161.png\" alt=\"SmartArt-options-Word-2010\" width=\"300\" height=\"161\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-126\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">When I select Smart Art, I get categories of ready-made graphics to choose from, and add my own details to.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For example, if I need to add an organisational chart, I can select a ready made model and alter it to fit my needs. \u00a0I can edit it, resize it, and change the colour scheme, all with a few clicks.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_128\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-128\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/Example-of-an-organisational-chart-in-Word-2010.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-128\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stl-training.co.uk\/b\/wordtraining\/files\/2012\/10\/Example-of-an-organisational-chart-in-Word-2010-300x160.png\" alt=\"Example of an organisational chart in Word 2010\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-128\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">After selecting the chart I want, Word 2010 automatically shows the Design tab for editing my chart.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Word advanced<\/strong> options include embedding videos, resizing images, rotating images and oh, so much more. \u00a0Make a start by experimenting by adding images and editing them, and keep on learning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This question is not quite eligible for to be a QI question but still worth knowing.
